Distribusion Technologies expands in Kenya by adding the first four carriers to its marketplace
29 November 2023
Distribusion Technologies is proud to announce their first four carrier signings in Kenya, Impala Shuttle, Nairobi Arusha Shuttle Bus, Ngurdoto Shuttles and Liquid Coaches.
Each of the four companies offers unique routes in the region, including airport transfers from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), trips to the largest cities and touristic destinations such as Mt. Kilimanjaro and Serengeti National Park Lodge, and a 70+ hour trip opening up the African Frontier from East Africa to South Africa.
"Kenya has a long, proud history of ground transportation, and Distribusion’s entrance into the East African market comes at an exciting time. This initial group of four carriers are busy paving the way for an industry-wide shift in how passengers search and book ground transportation in Kenya. Carriers now have access to global retailers, allowing these operators to extend their reach, generate international brand visibility, and increase ticket sales.” said Francis Macharia, Country Manager - Kenya, of Distribusion.
The Evolution of the Kenyan Ground Transportation Market
The Kenyan ground transportation industry is shifting, as traditional brick and mortar transport companies are embracing the digital trend sweeping across Africa.
Bus and rail makes up 85% of all public transportation trips in Kenya, however 88% of the total sales are currently transacted offline.
Distribusion is proud to be a part of this industry-wide change as domestic carriers inside Kenya are turning their focus on increasing the overall percentage of online sales (12%).
